1907 Lithgow but doesn't fit SMLE?

In my ongoing search for an Australianicon WW1 era 1907 I thought I had found one to suit me for the time being. This was sold to me as a 1917 1907 3MD. Upon arrival I found that it won't fit my SMLE and then noticed the mortise (I believe it is called) is the same width but not as long so it blocks the connection to the rifle. The muzzle ring is the correct size. When I took some photos I'm not even sure it reads 1907 but the mark is worn. I've included some pictures of all the markings I could find. There is a is a comparison picture with a correct size (the right one being this bayonet). If you could help me identify what I got this time I'd appreciate it.

It looks a bit battered on the end. Are there burrs in the channel because of this that can be filed out?

You know I think you're right. The depth measures about 10mm on both. I didn't think of this. The opening end is about 5mm. Looks like it's been used as a hammer. Thank you. Looks like I have a job to do!

Let us know how it works out. I have a set of very small files I use for this sort of thing. I've had to do it to half a dozen bayonets over the years and more recently a C96 stock bracket and the firing pin hole on the same gun.

I bought a really nice Mole P'88 bayonet with a 'condemned' stamp on it. When I tried to fit it to a rifle I knew why it was condemned, some tommy had used it as a hammer and compressed the pommel slot.
