Identifying a mystery feed block

Hi all, hoping you can help solve the mystery of this part that has been bugging me for awhile now. See the photos below - my closest guess is that it is an MG08 feed block but I have never been able to find photos of a matching example online. I assume it is possible that it is missing some key parts that are throwing me off in my comparisons.

As you'll see it serial numbers on one side - eastern Arabic numerals (441) and western numeral 88, as well smaller circle 19 and circle 6 markings (inspector markings? Not a Soviet factory I don't think?) on the reverse side. The eastern Arabic numerals suggest if it was for an MG08 then it would potentially be German-made for an Ottoman gun?

It is similar to (but not identical) the feed block on a Bergmann LMG. Dolf Goldsmith is the man to know!
