You can tell the LT is a West Point (ring knocker) graduate by the large class ring on his finger. LOL !! Probably thinks he is General Patton.
This is in the period surroundiung the Berlin crisis (June 4-November 9, 1961) centered around the building of the Berlin Wall. Sovietand U.S. cavalry faced off across the first proclaimed and then fortified border around West Berlin. The U.S. eventually brought in the Davy Crockett platoon-level, recoilless rifle-delivered, tactical nuclear weapon system, the "watermelon with fins."
