    French sabre d'abbatis (coup coup machete)

    This was sold as a US Marines machete which it obviously is not. I made the guy an offer which he refused. Made him a second offer of $10 more which he refused. Two weeks later he puts it up buy it now for the same price I offered him the first time. He lost $10.

    I've been watching for Frenchicon and Germanicon machetes for a while and this one seemed a good deal.

    No markings, they stopped stamping them after WWI so this is post WWI to WWII timeframe in all likelihood. They were used through Vietnam. Post WWI they used ink stamps which didn't last long with use.

    The para cord is likely a later addition. I like it so am leaving it for now. Very neat job.

    Issued as a tool, used as a weapon by colonial troops.

    This is a heavy blade machete, not a thin blade, like the US bolo knives thick.
