I'm trying to figure out the uniforms of his two guards.

There’s another one behind him. The guards and the onlookers look strange. I’d wager they are Frenchicon. The boots, the rifles, the canteen… But the civilians look also quite Italianicon.

Whoa! 1945? I didn't know Germanicon troops held out for that long.

Yeah, you wonder how long it took them to winkle out all the stragglers who had been put up by the local gals.

The Germanicon looks a bit worse for wear, like he got tuned up before the parade.

So 2 prisoners perhaps they were going to hand them into the US forces seems one guard is clearing the way 50/50 if they made it even early '45 the Germanicon forces were really in a bind I'm sure the crowd would have liked to get their hands on them both seeing as ol' mate has claret coming out his head.
