I think that photo was either taken in NZicon or possibly New Caledonia as NZ troops in the Solomons wore US HBT uniforms with the field cap. The lemon squeezers were usually non-combat items. My father told me of hand-painting camo paint on each other's HBT's while on the LST taking them from New Caledonia to Guadalcanal.
