Periscope rifle question

I have a rifle with what appears to be a periscope rifle trigger gaurd, this gun came from CMP( or so I am told) and has a mix of 03 parts. My question is this, do you guys know if anyone else milled a slot in the trigger gaurd for some other reason and are these trigger gaurd any more valuable than others? Thanks for any help
