WWII USMC Upper Pack

Found this at a flea market this morning for $5. It is not dated but does have a manufacturers mark which I believe to be M W BEYER. I cannot find this manufacturer anywhere.

It's missing its top strap but otherwise in decent condition. Would appear to be mid war production as it retains the Khaki color but has numerous improvements over the earliest production.

Signed by Capt A J Romano who I also cannot find.

Finding a replacement strap likely to be difficult as it has square ended straps rather than the more common round ones.

I couldn't find anything on MW Seyer but seyer industries seems to be military related and says it's a third generation family-owned business so I'm not sure how far back it would go but I wonder if it's the same seyer? That's what popped up when I looked up m.w.seyer

They began operations in 1957 unfortunately.

Is it possible that isn't a manufacturer but the users name stamped onto the pack? While researching what I see as M W Sever I ran across this video examining WWII backpacks and each one is stamped with a different name similar to what is on your pack.

Good possibility it is the name of the original soldier it was issued to. I saw that in my research but figured I'd rule out manufacturer first. Based on this video, it would seem this is a depot manufactured bag based on the type buckles. Markings faded away. Boyt might be the only other manufacturer of these and Boyts are usually well marked. I have a 1944 bag that is Boyt along with the lower pack.
