He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.
Nice top pic. You don't see too manty pics of the old M1.50 cal. Probably a "Colt" made gun too.
Bottom, guardin' the groceries...and hangin' out.

Top pic, gunner is armed with an apple.

I think the .50 gunner is holding the end of a hooked tubular body support bracket that is fixed to the left side of the gun mount. It must be a posed photo anyway as the tommy gunner has not cocked his gun.
Yes of course. You just seldom get to see the M1.50 set up and in the field.

The GCAJournal printed a short article and photo that was clipped from Stars and Stripes in 1945... two GIs had used their M1s to actually shoot down a Messerschmidt that was strafing their position and was extremely low! Very neat.
Real men measure once and cut.
If they are on AA duty then the holes a bit crowded by one as you'd need a No.2 for the ammo can with a runner to keep up the supply, a full 50 cal can would not be a very light weight piece of kit to carry.
A nice picture though.
