German LP42 Flare Pistol

Found this at the gun show yesterday also. Did not have a good day finding guns but found a lot of nice smaller things.

It is missing it's firing pin so if anyone has one sitting around, let me know. If you have specs on them let me know that also so maybe I can fabricate one.

Where it goes resembles a key slot, slot goes in to an open area, it is turned and then the pins go into a slot. The spring holds it all together. Possibly looks something like this:



The gun itself was made by eun, Rana-Werke, Rudolf Danhardt, Klardorf in Upper Palatinate. It is waffen marked WA30.

Very simple design, heavy hammer spring Bore had a bunch of crusty crud in it that appears to be rust but when I scraped it out, there wasn't much pitting so not sure what it is. Still some in there, hard to get out. It has a "loaded" indicator. The small pin is pushed out when a flare is in the pistol.

They have holsters, repros are available as are the cleaning rods for them. Debating whether to get a repro or try and wait on an original. One original up for sale right now but it's missing part of the rod holding strap. I suspect an original holster in good condition may be cost prohibitive and more than I paid for the pistol itself.

I had one of those for a minute some time back...had no use for it so moved it on. Here's a how to with pics. Firing pin is there and strip and assemble.

Thanks, that is very helpful. I didn't think the thing came apart. There is some rust on the inside I'd like to get out and taking it apart will make that possible. I was pretty close with the firing pin. I had thought a long ridge but due to the simplicity of the pistol I figured they'd use a pin to make it simpler to fabricate. I did not see the screwdriver tip but that makes perfect sense.

It's going to need to be a bit hard, good stuff...so it doesn't roll over at the edge.
