    I think being in that tank it may have been warmer in a fridge steel has a tendency to get very cold in snow! Least the Germans put a crew compartment heater on some of their AFV's the Jagdpanther was one of them.

    I had the chance to test that theory when the heater in my armored carrier packed it in during winter of '77...you couldn't get warm for anything after that. Next time I made sure to care for the heater to full effect.
