DuLite RR - Is the Finish Original?

    Greetings!
I have a DuLite finished RR that is almost in new condition. Some say the finish is original, some say it have been refinished. Puts me in a quandary. Is there an "authority" out there could lay hands on it and say yea or nay, in writing? Any direction you might provide would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, H.T.

First thing to do is to get good photos. The mosaic is about useless.

Take nice, detailed photos like the following. In direct sunlight, DuLite blue will have refractive hints of red and green. The Ordnance wheel will cut through the finish.

That being said, I think I can see that your gun is original finish. I think.

Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to review my pistol and to provide examples of what I should be looking for. Best Regards, H.T. Rea

    H.T.,

The only thing that I notice that looks out of place is that the serial number on the frame 940XXX falls into the Type 1 or possibly Type 2 serial number range while the slide is definitely a Type 3 slide. The finish on both may be original, but I do not believe that the frame and slide are original to each other.
