My new 1903A4

Just won this on GB making this my 6th A4. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1007363296
All have 5 stamping in front of the trigger guard, 3 small numbers within geometric shapes, 1 small zero and a large number above all smaller stamps. The new A4 has all small letters within geometric shapes, the small zero and what appears to be a small “u” above the stamping totaling 5 stamps. Is this a variation of the A4 stamping and do you see anything that would not qualify this as an authentic sniper rifle except for not having a scope. I am not able to upload a screenshot so see photo 45 in auction.

If anyone viewing this thread can post a screen shot of photo 45 in a reply it would be appreciated

No scope, end of the story.

The small stamps are sub-inspector stamps. It is a real A4. Now you need to find the Redfield rings and a scope. If you do not want to spend the money for a M73B1 look for a Weaver 330. Scope or and aAsakan Lyman.

Upon further inspection this stock is a Keystone and my understanding is they were used as a replacement durning a rebuild. If this is true then all the cartouches and subcontractor stamps are fake, right or wrong

Wrong. All later production M'03-A4's, including rifles in your rifle's serial range, were factory-fitted with Keystone scant stocks. The markings are authentic and correct for your rifle.

stock is most likely original to the rifle, last group of the A4s had alot of scant grips stocks, has been rebuilt, handguard was most likely replaced during rebuild. no scope is common, most sold through the DCM were done with no scope, remmember what happened at this time, with a Carcano sold with a cheap scope. iv always wondered what they did with the scopes, trashed em. or sold them off as scrap. likely this had an M84 when it was turned in to be sold, one marking that iv not seen on any other A4 is the number 4 stamped on the barrel, on the side, not sure what that was for or why they stamped it
