New Acquisition… In a Few Weeks

Today I went to a gun shop not too far from home to see if they had an indexing rod clamp for my turret press.
I also wanted to ask them about a mount for red dots I saw yesterday night installed on a Bernardelli Practical pistol.
The rear sight slot is identycal with that of my Parctical Elite, so I asked where I could find a similar mount.
No way Jose… Custom made.
But they showed me the pistol… .40 S&W, as new. 490€ with two mags, mount, red dot.
I gave them a down payment and they’ll keep it for me until I happen to pass through town again and pick it up.
It feels like… petting

Finally… I could drive to the gun shop and pick up the new toy.
Lovely!
It is like new, though it is 30 years old,and has a wonderful custom mount for the red dot. The original LTA adjustable rear sight is also there.

Horrendous experience my first rounds with the new beast.
Every single round, she cycled perfectly, but the trigger just wouldn't engage again. Was being free to be pulled back, but did not work.
It was slightly "scraping" at times.
A couple times, the hammer fell, but no shot, since the striker safety was not engaged by the "nose" on the transfer bar.
If I brought the slide back by 1-2 mm, the transfer bar would click and engage the normal position it always should reach to allow the trigger mechanism to work.
And the round would fire without issues.
If I pressed the trigger and manually slid the slide, everything 100% ok.
So, I shot with the other gats and went back home to analyse the problem.
I took the gun apart, checked everything.
Lubed everything, tested with operating the slide manually. Everything ok, never any problem.
Then, waking up finally, I operated the slide keeping the trigger pressed. There came the problem.
But everything was ok in the chain of the trigger/hammer...
So, take down the gat again, damn...
Transfer bar is ok. In the right place, with the right angle. No strange things.
100% like my P-One and my Practical Elite.
Until I noticed that the trigger adjustment screw (it is not a real screw, it is with recessed hex and no head. I just don't get the right word now) looked pretty high on the trigger mechanism when looking from the inside. Unscrewed a turn and... Solved.
I must admit that I started being a tad upset, but finding the solution made my day.
I can't wait until tomorrow to test it again, shooting a full magazine without issues.

Is it accurate?
Probably... The red-dot retention screws had no loctite and lasted about 2 rounds before getting loose. Tightened again, the screws holding the base let loose...
Really, it was a crappy start, but the two rounds in a row I could shoot twice between getting the screws loose were pretty ok.
The other "sisters" are very accurate, so I don't have any doubts.
Still... Now I want to see with my own eyes!

But the dot will move to my Practical Elite anyway. That gun is really another planet.
