He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.
UN peacekeepers?
1 April 1963
Following the appeal of the Central Congolese Government in early July 1960, UN troops were rushed to the Congo, to assist the Government in maintaining law and order. Recently the Central Government and the United Nations agreed on the gradual withdrawal of the UN contingents. Earlier this year, the Indian Brigade was recalled and in April the Ethiopian Brigade began to leave. The departing soldiers were honored at a ceremony in Stanleyville, in which the National Congolese Army participated. Thousands of civilians were also present. Here Ethiopians troops at Stanleyville airport are ready for take off aboard troop transport planes, which will take them home to Addis Ababa.
