    Turd Alert (aneometer)

I've read a lot of books on WW II sniping and nowhere have I ever read that Germanicon snipers were issued anemometers (wind speed thingy). On top of that, the seller asserts it belonged to Sepp Allerberger. Note: Third Gebirgs Division is scrawled on it. It should be Third Gebirgjager Division and regiment #, not battalion # which is on it. I don't think the person knows history. Move the decimal over to the left and I'd buy it as "toy" to play with.

As with all things military surplus, buy the item, not the story. I have no doubt this is a military issue anemometer, whether it can be attributed to Sepp Allerberger is entirely another story.

I don't know if this is silver or not but if it was cheap enough I'd buy it for the silver. It could be pewter or even Germanicon silver (a nickel based faux silver used for decorations). Anyway, it appears to be chemically etched.

If it really was silver, I'd be inclined to buy it for the silver content and not what the seller represents. Save yore ducats.
