European SKS Rifles I've Found

Hi Fellas,

Here's a quick and crappy shot of my humble Euro SKS iron heap I call "The Warsaw Wall". I got the top rifle from MashedPotatoJohnson out of Huston. Took 2 months of Kali DOJ hassle.
I just picked a '51 Tula as issued, lone rifle on bottom
Top to bottom:
'51 Tula light refurb BBQ, where there's #s they match, only the stock is forced, doesn't seem run much, bolt and hammer face look new, over all excellent
'54 as issued Tula but ruined by the former 01 FFL who bought it new for $89 bucks back in the day, I call it the "Green Hornet"
'54 Izhevsk refurb all matching and not run much
'59 M59C Yugoslavian as issued with correct sling, about the cleanest SKS I have
'60 M56 Romanian, (Transylvania actually) forced in many areas, rough furniture, typical example for a Romy, good bore but looks like a vet
'69 & '70 M56 Albanian both matching, '70 is nicer
These guys are all cosmo free, clean and functional main battle rifles but are hanger queens. Someday I'll do a better pictorial layout, thanks for looking, enjoy. PAX

It's a beautiful set of SKSs! The two first SKSs I bought were, I think, in the late 80s at the Gun Show at the Vallejo, CA fair grounds. Back then, SKSs were not thought well of as "Russin Junk," "Truck Guns," etc.

I thought they were cool-looking rifles. The two I picked up were brand new, blade bayonet, never fired, and had all the accessories. $75.00 each. They are still beautiful, but I gave one to each of my sons

My first was a Russian with blade and laminate stock, bought in about 1986 or '87. Ammo was scarce and when I got some it was all boxer so I started loading it. They were a scarce rifle then, bought it for about $150CDN I think.

I recently went to a lake house party with m wife and her friend. Friend's parents owned the lake house and in an adjoining room I saw a Chinese SKS on the wall. I commented to the friend's Dad about the SKS and he replied, "I've never shot the thing, we over ran an NVA base and found a few crates of these things and I brought that one home." I was like, WOW! My first semi-auto rifle was a Chinese SKS, but I bought it at the gunstore when I was 16! LOL.

I started after the euro rifles late in the game but have lucked out in what I have acquired. Cool story about the Lake house bring back. I too have a good tale about my paperless NAM SKS. I bought the story, the rifle was dirt cheap. A vet's widow was selling it for a hunnerd bucks 12 years ago. When I went to look it over, all she said was that "He brought it back from over there" and I left it at that. Looks the part right serial range, all matching, stock too, except the bolt (common for battlefield pickups) PAX

I have a Chinese Type 53 Mosin Nagant rifle from Vietnam. One of the older guys Ringer in my SEABEE Unit brought it back, some guy was taking pot shots at them when they were working and he shot him and took his rifle. He sold it to me for $20.00 back in 1981 - I should have asked for his papers but I didn't know anything about collecting back then.
