Mosin Nagant M/39 receiver maker

Hello all,

found this Finnish M/39 a while ago and saved it from being scrapped. VKT-made in 1942, all matching except for the stock, that has been changed obviously.
I was curious and wanted to know who made the receiver, but found just this number. Is it somthing like an assembly number?
Near the muzzle, between the upper ring and the front sight post, there are the numbers "61" and a lined-out "72" . I suppose these could be arsenal repair dates, but why should the "72" be lined out?

I did some research and found the maker of the receiver. It's New England Westinghouse, East Springfield plant.
The numbers near the front sight post are the heights of the latter.

I knew they made the barrels but didn't know about the receivers.

IIRC, NEW made more of these rifles than Remington did.

I think she's a beautiful old war horse. When you say saved from being scrapped, did you save it from your local government or from a private person that was just going to throw it away? I'm just curious how someone could even think of scrapping that. I know these aren't super valuable but still, it looks at a distance fully functional. Not to mention it's history and all its went through. Also, thank you for saving it
