Finish M 28/30 replacement hand guard

I just got this M28/30 1935 that is fitted into a Russian stock. The top hand guard is badly cracked the length of the wood. I’m going to try and repair it, but I am also looking to find a replacement. Any thoughts, recommendations, or tidbits of knowledge to share on which hand guard would be appropriate. A standard M 91MN hang guard doesn’t have the correct rear profile. Actual M 28/30 stocks or hang guards are rare.

Your best option is to repair the existing handguard really. Replacement M28/30 handguards are out there but are usually unfinished. It would be very difficult to replicate the original Pomo-Lacquer finish on the stock to match.

Thanks. I repaired the cracked hand guard and although not perfect by any means it is serviceable.
Of course now I have to go and look up Pomo-Lacquer finish. Thanks for that rabbit hole. ?
