    M1914 Refinish Options?

I picked up a Norwegianicon M1914 (1942) about a year ago. It had been lightly buffed and and refinished to a high-gloss blue. The non-matching barrel has been polished white. It does have the original grips though. I have been thinking about getting the gun parked and the barrel blued to at least make it look more correct. Any suggestions as to how to refinish this thing without obliterating the markings? Is it worth the cost and time? How mush does this sort of thing cost anyway? Thanks

I think I would leave it as is. You could spend quite a lot restoring the pistol back to original configuration but it will never be original again. You can spend the money and have it be worth no more than it is right now. Just have fun with it and shoot it the way it is. IMO

being someone who restores for a living, im all about getting the work.
however, i agree with Duane , if its in nice shape, with most of its original finish, leave it be, maybe have the barrel reblued, and thats it.
if its down to the white, or already reblued, then you cant go wrong.
