A GI bolt and Plainfield carbine?

A gentleman asked me on another forum if a GI round bolt could be used in a Plainfield carbine. Yea or nay?

    TIA!

I beieve that they will work. The plainfield does take most GI parts.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

Since the subject is Plainfields, what about Universals? I have installed a gi bolt but the hole for the pin that accepts the triggerguard is a bit smaller than gi. i got the BR at anniston and it seems several years old. welded on gas block. i think the correct hole size is 3/16's inch. the one there is about 1/32 smaller. any help appreciated

"...Yea or nay?..." Absolutely. Plainfields can use any milsurp part. Mine came with a round bolt.
"...what about Universals?..." Early or Late. Late models(two return springs, a toggle for the bolt hold open and a poorly made stamped op handle) can't use any milsurp parts except mags.

    Mike,
A series 3 Universal is an animal unto itself.
Don't waste your time trying to make it into something it never was.
If it's safe to shoot, enjoy it until something breaks. Then, keep the mags and sling and move on.

    A fellow Universal owner,
    Phil
