What do you think of this 1896 rifle?

This is cheaper and looks nicer than most of the Krags I see locally.

Garandy, It looks nice. If it's got a good bore, it's a great deal. Hondo1

Looks to be a good price. Might see if you can query them as to bore condition.

    Garndy,

I would go for it, too, if the bore was good. I think on that weapon bore condition would be the deal-maker or -breaker

    Good luck!

How "correct" does it look from the pictures? I know they aren't the most detailed but I know you guys are good.

Well, it has the M1896 sight, as it should. I do not see anything wrong with the rifle as far as being "correct".

Usually, when they don't say anything about the bore, the bore will be somewhat rough, frosted, etc. Still might shoot good though.

That one is worth the money, even with a rough bore, but I would still ask. There are more good deals out there so I would wait to get one with a nice bore.

I sent them an email about it several days ago but no word back yet. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow.

BTW, is the S/N low enough on this rifle for it to be classified as an antique?

Infantry Marine, I'm figuring that the bore condition isn't great for exactly the reason you stated. But, you never know until you ask!

I'm with you on the "asking" thing. You can get some great deals on the net.

All M1896 Krags are antiques, hopefully the seller will ship without an FFL if you buy it.
