    03 sporter auction buy

I finally got the 03 sporter I lusted after 50+ years ago at an auction today; M1903 30-06 serial No. 9352xx. It is in very nice shape and came with a classic style (non-Monte Carlo) stock, a Tasco scope in a Paul Jaeger single lever detachable scope mount and a VERY light grooved trigger which I suspect may be an after-market (havn't taken it apart yet), all for $250.00. The barrel is unmarked but appears to be military contour, bright and shiny bore with tight muzzle. Anyone here know the time period when the Jaeger mount was made?

    1903 Sporter

Very nice rifle. I have a MK1 in a sporter stock I put together from a pile of parts a friend gave me. It has the same style stock. Thanks

Jaeger was in business with his scope mounts from the very late 1940's through at least 1975. HTH, Ric
