I agree that AIrsoft are a great way to get the younger generation into firearms. It is helping counteract the older generation of gun fearers (still younger than us).

When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, I was a gun nut. After I shot my Postal Inspector cousin's DCM M1 carbine in the early 60s, I was hooked for sure. Once I started working at 14 or 15, I bought those Japanese metal working replica pistols by Nakata. They were the Airsoft of the 60s.

I had a Browning High Power (with detachable shoulder stock), P38, and S&W 19 with a 2 1/2" barrel. They had brass bullets with hollow noses that you put caps in. The hammer drove the cartridge forward to set of the cap, then you worked the action by hand. I had those until about 10 years ago when a box was "lost" during a move.

Just curious, legality-wise, how close all the selector related parts are to the originals.

Totally different system with not even a similarity to a real gun (as far as the inner workings). I'd be surprised if a single part could be used on a real carbine.

As Inland said, it is nothing like a real M2 inside, but it looks real from the outside.
