Your welding supply store will know the term, I reckon. Whether they have SMALL filler rods (not electrodes) is another question. In the "big world", it's most commonly used for building up the teeth on bulldozer blades, probably. So, its both hard and tough! Plenty of other applications as well, including this one.

You may want to check with these fellows. They make a living restoring C96s. First class work and parts. They are also know as " The Broom Closet"

Thanks, JBS! I knew there were specialists, but couldn't even begin to remember the company name. Back when David Keng and his clan were importing these pistols, there was quite the flurry of pistols being brought back to "new". ( I got to go down into his warehouse and pick some out- no restoration required. Only one left, now. Good trading fodder they were!)
Last time I saw David was a few years back when he brought the Chinese Olympic pistol team to a local IHMSA match. I don't think they had ever seen the likes of us crazies before!- "Dead Frogs", monster single shots, ludricrous target distances- Heck, shooting w/ TWO hands on the pistol.... Mr. Keng shot the match w/ a 10 3/8" M29 S&W w/ IMI ammo that rocked him back w/ every shot. But, I digress...

I have worked on a few C96s and Bolos’ that have found their way through my shop. I don’t keep any parts around. Working on them now and getting them running again is almost like working on a “one of” gun. The Gun rack works on them all day long. They also will do a very nice barrel liner.
