Agreed - but if anyone is buying Enfields and doesnt understand what DP is ( but has the sense to ask) then should we not explain ?
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

A lot of fuass over a blob of red paint................. I agree too. Before this thread gets bigger than Ben Hur, let's have some idea of what you mean by a 'blob' of paint. Is it a blob, a line, a small splodge or a full blown stonking great red band

Ahhhh *BUT* I remember you singled out a wee bit of a tiny speck of yellow in a ding on the wood on my Lithgowicon that I believe and will always believe 'saved my bacon' as they say... ;-)

Ah, yes Nick, but that's because having lived and been an Armourer in Australiaicon, I realised that it was the remains of a HUGE great yellow band around the butt! But we haven't even got a picture of what this 'blob' or red paint is, beyond a blob. And as a rule, the DP or BR-PC markings don't extend to the charger bridge

Took it out yesterday and shot it for the first time. It shot great--one of the most fun firearms I've shot. Double-checked the headspace and went for it. Thank you all for replies. I'm new to collecting, so the inputs are greatly appreciated!
