.30 carbine bullet, how far can it travel?

Just wondering how far a .30 caliber carbine bullet can travel, shooting at a 30 or 40 degree angle.

You'll have to do a mathematic equasion to figure it out. Height of the barrel over speed of the bullet over speed of gravity???? That's one we don't have on our computer favorites!

According to my ballistic tables - 110 grain 30 carbine at 1970 fps = 1.25 miles

Is that at 30-40 degree angle or level?

29 degrees is the best angle for most military cartridges. There is little change between 29 - 35 degrees. At angles less than 29, or greater than 35, the maximum distances drop off rapidly. It is interesting to note that a bullet fired in a vacuum will travel approximately 22 times farther than one fired in atmospheric air.
