Rick is correct. I should be looking for a P inside a circle. You have a mint no circle P stamping. Done after all other stamps were removed. Likely done 1-2 years back? My guess. Rifle looks Ok to me, but never buy the story, just buy the gun.

Nice A3. The "P" looks very crisp and the stock has been sanded. There should be stampings on the side of the wrist and in front of the trigger guard assm. I'd get the head space checked and grab some ammo! They are a fine shooting gun. I got one a little while back and it draws a crowd at the range.

That's my problem - the P looks TOO crisp and it is the wrong size. I would agree the stock was probably sanded. Inspection stamps were seen as a nuisance until relatively recently.
