Maybe a new nose cap as it appears to have had the bayonet boss and mount removed, or is that just how the photo has been cropped?

It looks as though the woodwork has been power sanded to within an inch of its life! Pic 5 and 6, the wood should always be proud of the metalwork

Wow, that no bayonet capability having nose cap changes the whole look of the package. Weird, almost! But if you go looking for a replacement, the "windowed" sight protectors are distinctly Australian

Replacement nose caps are not too hard to come by in Australia
via the internet.

Interesting that your rifle has the same A F marking I questioned in my post regarding my 1941 Lithgow
