Hey Chris,
Thanks for the info. I will hopefully have the Bren back in two or three weeks. I will post some photos for you upon its return. What's interesting is that was the tail section I received as part of the parts kit when I bought it. The angle of the cut matched the cut on the center DD section. I'm fairly new to the Bren gun, so it's interesting to get more info. Are there any other markings on the center portion of the receiver that might help pinpoint when it was made?
Thanks again! Mike

The centre section should have a date, I think you said it had 1940 on it, can you tell me which side thats on, also does it have a crown Enfield logo or Just the ED logo. The only other way is to check the machining, or should I say lack of machining as there were 5 variations (4 diffrent variations (1 varient has 2 sub varients)) in 1940.

They both have the ED, MKI and 1940 on the right side above the charging handle. I'm not real familiar with the machining differences, but I know both have ovular lightening dimples towards the front of the receiver.

Probably circa £300-400 at present, although there are a number of variables that effect the price. Do you have any pictures?

Can I assume that you already have my vast serial number research BP? If not in whole, then at least in part for the material changes, mark/type changes and year end/start changes

Indeed I have Peter, you sent it over a number of years ago thanks, I've so far managed to get some really close start/end of year production and variation figures. One of the more recent additions is a Mk4 in private hands which looks genuine, I should maybe send you some photos and get your opinion.
