Had one of those moments, you know the one's. Mindless staring at the tele, not enough fluff in the navel to make it worth defluffing, then POW. how many are there really?
Lee Enfield Sniper rifles that is, I think we have had about five on this forum since 01 Jan, a rough count of the last six months of 2011 gave me 10, is that old joke about them multiplying real?(now where can I find one of those T stamps?)
Has anyone been keeping track of the survivors? It's only the T's that we don't have full serial No. listings on, or do we?

It would be fascinating to know how many had survived to this day, and I also wonder how many of the no32 scopes are still around.
It doesn't seem as if there was ever any kind of comprehensive list kept of those rifles converted originally, alas.
It's certainly nice to see all the ones which have been posted here of late though.

How about a "sound off" for members that have them ? It would at least be a start of an updated data base. I recall seeing a spreadsheet of No.32 scopes, including owners, a while back, but I do not think it included the rifle #. It may bring to light some interesting comparisons as well as providing fodder for the updated book that is in the works.

Would be very nice to have a sort of "data base" of the snipers with information on marks and any other traits usual and unusual . Maybe trends would appear that would make IDing a sniper easier if it wasnt the prototypical enfield. Just a thought.

This has been doen 'Son' in OZ has a sticky on teh forum for teh HT's. No.4 'T', L42 A1 and No.1 Mk3 HT here : 1x No.32 scope 1 x L1A1 scope and 1 x Pattern 18 scope.

Not such a hard task for the HT's as there were only a little over 1600 made, and all the serial numbers are available. I have specifics on very close to 200 rifles and /or scopes which is about 12% of production. There are quite a few things that can be noted about them, especially around the scopes and mounts themselves. I would imagine doing something similar for the No4T's would be a huge task because of the need to verify each and every one presented to start with, and then there being 20,000 odd of them out there.... Still, if someone wanted to compile a register of them here, start with serial numbers (which can be kept confidential if sent in by PM) and a tick sheet as to if they have the markings specific to the model as described in the bible, general comments on condition etc.... it would work as a database to help others confirm their rifles as they come along and hopefully participate as well.

IIRC correctly it was more like 25 or 26 thousand. PL will correct this i am sure.

Are you referring to English or Canadian No 4's or both? Including WWI era and WWII Aussie SMLEs?
