Difference in between a n°32 mkI and mk II scope

Hi gents,
I'm brand new on this forum. Since a few weeks, I have as a goal, to equip my Lee Enfield n04 mk I with a scope. I read a lot of threads, but none who sums up the differences of each model.
I maybe have a MK I one in view, is it a good deal to get it or is it better to wait a bit for a mkII or III?

Get the one you can, while you can, even if it's a bit rough and ready.......... If you get a chance to obtain a later mark/type later, then get that THEN sell the early one at a profit. But at least you have got one

That's the way I think too, Mr Laidler. I read that in the mk II there is a backlash, and not in the mkI. What is the purpose of this? Does it affect the longevity of the scope or only the accuracy?

Best you read a little book about the telescopes, available from BDLLtd. Do not worry too much about backlash as it can be easily corrected. Once again, the remedy is detailed in the book

The biggest difference between the marks is in the ranging and deflection drum graduations. The Mk.1 deflection drums are 2 MOA per click, ranging drum is in 50yd intervals, Mk.2's are 1MOA ranging and deflection.

Unless you get a Canadian Mk1A which has Mk1 dums with Mk2 clicker plates. But that's not going to trouble most of us mere mortals because there ain't too many Mk1A's on the planet

Talking of which, does anyone have one? What is the OS number? Or does it remain at 466A?

Attachment 32672Canadian REL Mk.1A are marked CGB 78GA.
No OS number.

Mk. II is COS 1650A
Mk. III is COS 2039A
The Mk.1 has nothing other than the name and serial number however there is some irregularity here so I'll dig some out and show the difference.

Thanks Warren, that IS the equivalent of our VAOS number. CGB 78GA would equate to our V5/OS 78GA
V5 - Ordnance cataloguing type category
OS - Optical stores group
78 is the a complete issued item number
GA = General/complete assembly
