Ah, yes......., when you move the grat in a moving image telescope, it doesn't look like like the grat is moving, because it's NOT. It is the actual image that is moving. So to do it you NEED vee blocks and a DAP to view. Difficult to explain but........... I'd get a cheapo No32!
There are a couple on used guns.com

I won't be buying even a cheap no32 and will have to make do with a weaver k2.5 as I already have it. Still, it's all learning.
In the even I can't get a proper DAP, is there another way to use something closer?

just guessing here but use a smaller one closer if you can't find one at 500. better still wait till you go to range next time, set up your DAP and lie down on the mound with your little vee block and scope and charge a dollar to eah person who comes up for a look at what your doing!! be a milloinaire overnight without winning lotto!!!
cheers

Lol, I like the charging idea. I can go about 20m here and not a lot more. Haven't been to the range for a long time so maybe it's time. I'll have to reload some 303 and take the no1 HB out for a spin.

On hold at the moment Ned, I've got to much on and the apprentice, (unpaid son) is off on a fishing/boozing? junket up the top end.
I will say though, he has a few good calculations and sketches, but has effectively tied up a length of steel that I can't use for anything else.
Patience is a virtue, if it takes to long, I will leave a note for him to have it chromed and placed with the flowers on your pine box.
Cheers.

One cutting board sacrificed to the Collaminating God. It's not as straight forward as I would have thought as you have to decipher what the scope is doing when you rotate it... anyway, all done. Next is to get hold of a drill press.... I have got my Milsurps mojo back and want to do this baby.
