A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I think he just wanted a guide price to pay at auction. If he could get them at a low enough price to sell them on and make a profit then he would bid. I think the original post was used to get a reply.

    Thanks for the help

    Hello,
I saw this thread and added my post asking about guide prices as there was a small auction house near me holding it's annual 'Militaria and Toy' sale. It normally deals in house clearance junk. There were 2 Mk1 Brens and an MG42/53 all 'Old Spec' with certificates. There was also a rather horrible Jaeger .22 AR15 copy DeaAct.

The first Bren went for £400 and the MG42/53 and the second Bren for £375. Commission a very good 12.5% making them £422. WITHOUT CERTS which had got lost!

I report this for info. It was intersting seeing the link to chelmsford who seem to be the only dealer with more than one at the moment. Should I get the chance I'll post pics of the Bren I got with nos etc as I'll be interested to see if I've got a good one or not.

Thanks again to all those that contributed. Peter. will you be at the Trafalgar Meeting? If so I'd like to meet you, just to put a face to the 'Legend'.

The Trafalgar is Sat and Sun 20th 21st October. I'll get there late Fri night. We set up the stand on Sat and depending on trade leave about 3pm on Sunday as it's a long drive back in the dark.

Sorry all, I hadn't seen recent posts to the thread.......I've been on another mission - this new little acquisition below has taken up most of my recent time

    Peter

When I first posted, you kindly PM'd me a contact - David Thomas - and I thanked you for that at the time

I got in touch with him and ordered one at the time, and chased him up subsequently, but haven't heard a squeak from him . I'll chase him up again.
