Suggestion #1: Get out there and shoot the match!
At the match you'll get more practial suggestions, help, and coaching than you'll ever get on an internet board or practicing by yourself. Tell the Match Director you're new and ask to be squadded with a good coach (he'll probably do that anyway but ask just to be sure).
Don't worry about embarrassing yourself; nobody else cares. Even if you do screw up all that means is you'll have it out of the way and can concentrate on the important stuff next time. Besides, you may get a good "There I was at my first match..." story out of it
Go to Coaching Tips and Ideas and read the AMU's tips there.
Kneeling? What's that? Sounds like smallbore. Sitting is much more stable and is used by 99% of highpower shooters.

If there is a single myth that experienced competition shooters wish they could get rid of....it would be this one! You will NOT embarrass yourself, certainly not to your fellow competitors! We are on your side, we've all been where you are! SHOOT THE MATCH!
