1907 Pattern Hook Quillion Bayonet
Gday folks
This is the first time on here as I look to seek advice on my Bayonet. I bought it at auction in Australia
without seeing it (there were 900 lots) and as soon as I picked it up after, I got real suss on it.
It is stamped 1907, 13, L, X and very dodgy thing that I think is meant to be a broad arrow.
I was wondering if anyone had some knowledge of training bayonet markings or maybe ones used in film?
Check out the photos, markings seem dodgy and not all that you expect are there and hook has square edges. Not to mentioned the nice rounded blade point!
Im not holding high hopes for this thing but I thought I may ask.

Hooked Quillon P1907 bayonet
Attachment 42682Attachment 42683Attachment 42684I only have this one example which is a Wilkinson dated 5 '09 and marked DT R.389.
The scabbard is not matching but marked AC 4 B '11 and black color
Joe Salter had one for sale last week for around $1700 US
There are many fakes around

The quillon looks like an Arisaka
. Exactly the same shape. I suspect it's been added and chemically aged. The tang of the blade is out of whack too. Compare pics of yours and RCS' blade tangs for length and shape. Something's very wrong.

RCS, Thats a nice example marked to the The Dorsetshire Regiment, the R before the weapon number I think is Reserve and would indicate the 3rd battalion.
dylpickle, Like BR says it looks like a Japanese Arisaka
quillion but the muzzle ring is correct hight etc for a 1907, apart from the square edges it looks the same size as a 1907, just the blade that looks out of place regarding the ricasso and fuller, a point like that would normally indicate a DP bayonet on a standard 1907. maybe a film prop knock up ? or a bad repro ?

Maybe...? What has IMA in stock right now?

Certainly a head scratcher BR, like you my initial thoughts were Arisaka
origin, and maybe the pommel was grafted on etc, but the fuller on these blades are still longer than the blade in the pic.

I'm thinking just the quillon has been added from an Ariska, the rest of it looks standard 07 apart from the unusual WD arrow.
Under a magnifying glass, can you see a join anywhere past the quillon. Look on the underside particularly. They can be welded and filed back but you might still be able to see differences in material or surface abrasions.

I can't see it from pics, but I had one in my hands at the Chilliwack show last March and there was no hard line from welding. It was quite smooth and very shiny, no bluing or worn bluing. The quillons are round also, not square like that one.

Thanks to everyone for their input and opinions about my bayonet. I havent been able to indentify it any further.
I think it is probably just a knock-off.
Would anyone like to purchase a Fake P1907 Hook Quillion Bayonet as described above. It is in great condition!
Thanks for all your help guys. Keep it coming if you have any more suggestions please.
Cheers

Heyas, Sorry, I didnt answer a question. To 156pff, I cant see any hint of mark on the under 8x mag. I think Browning is on the ball. Thanks heaps to RCS for the example to compare to as well. Cheers again all.
