Remember seeing this thread a while back and thought I would pass some info along. I was at the Knob Creek machine gun shoot and military gun show in KY this past weekend. I ran into a guy { asian } with 3 carbine stocks in his hand and asked him about them, we got to talking and he told me he had over 1000 usgi carbine stocks in his van that had come from Korea. I was looking for a low wood IBM he offered to let me look through his van. He had boxes and boxes of stocks and I could have been there all day, so we agreed that he would look through them the next day and put a couple off to the side for me and I would e-mail him Monday and he would send pictures. He went on to say he had pleanty of high wood and I cut stocks as well. I have his informatation if anyone is interested.

I saw three boxes marked M1
& M2 stocks in boxes marked from Korea at a gunshow this weekend. $145 each. I guess South Korea has decided what to do with the now unimportable M1s.
Sell the wood and melt the metal?

Just stumbled across these while looking, Looks like all but 1 Escutcheon nut has been pulled, so pretty much no metal. Free shipping though, could be possible to make a few good shooting stocks, never know.
Have a feeling, we'll be seeing many more of these soon enough.

I looked at a few of the ones at the GS. No markings I could see. While they all appeared dirty and oil soaked they seemed free of cracks gouges etc..

Those stocks are beauties, Charlie.
I've seen a bunch of the Korean stocks. All have issues once you clean them. You will find cracks, repairs and rebuild stamps that you couldn't see until you clean them. There is still value in them for the refinish in them.
