Perhaps and not pushing it but to get it on tape as a memoir and then in print would be the way to go I for one would purchase the book as all to soon no disrespect we are going to lose these memories forever as we can not ask any WWI vets about their experiences anymore from either side.
Only hope families that have diaries of the WWI vets may one day condescend to getting them on print.
The written word will long outlast these dang computers if you lose power you can still read a book by candle light......

I don't get over here much at all, but that was an amazing effort to pull off you guys. Brought a tear to my eye thinking about my long gone Pops. He seldom spoke of his service action (Staff sargent, 1st Filipino Regiment, rifle company, 2 watercooled .30 cal). Those gentlemen are dissappearing quickly, and so much is owed to them. I wonder if Sandy knew my Grandpa at all. He was also a WWII vet and lived in Barriere for about ten years before his passing in 1995.

Just got back from Canada and had to get on to the forum to say thanks for all the great comments, it really makes me proud of dad. I read some of the comments to him today when I phoned. He said "Go on! I never thought of it that way, wasn't it nice they made these comments"

I would also like to thank Don and Cass for making this meeting possible, two very nice guys.

I'll update the post where necessary. I won't be in a position to produce any video until I return from Scotland in around 5 weeks time.

I'm also going to try to get one of dad's sniper buddies to do something similar. He's 91 and lives on Vancouver Island.

Once again, many many thanks to the forum.

Just spent some time talking with Ian in England and he is starting to work on editing the video of his dad the day we visited. He brought up something and I said I would post on here hoping to get some feedback from readers.

How long of video do you think you would like him to produce. Is 10 minutes too long or too short? Does it matter how long it is?

Please lets have some comments in regard to what you think would be acceptable, he wants to do it right but not over do it if you know what I mean.

I have 2 copies of a clip ready, both close to 8 minutes duration, one is in .mpg (324mb). The other is .wmv (74mb), both play in Windows media player, both shot in PAL.

The question is which one should be uploaded and how do I go about this, I can't find instructions to upload video.
