From what I read on CMP
forums it is a rebuild date for the US arsenal Letterkenny Arsenal in PA. The CMP forum folks hold these in high regard - don't know why. Some folks collect these rebuilds.

Very Nice..... I received a LEAD rebuild the other day as well. Happy shooting

Nice rebuild and looks to still have the original barrel. Late rebuilds have sort of become a niche area of collecting for some in the Garand
community as they tend to be a little more economical than chasing gas traps, original Winchesters, IHCs, HRAs and SAs.

Stand by for the complete story on LEAD in the next GCA
Journal (Winter). Mike Bernazzani visited Letterkenny last month and made some great contacts with retired workers, dug out terrific info. We just finished editing, now he is selecting the photos to go with the text. Great article and new M1
research, kudos to Mike!

I look forward to the article. Anybody know about the sticker rack number? Or at least it looks like a sticker to me.

Only Two?!! Must admit, have been fortunate to have the funds and have been able to drive to the CMP
South store....and visit CMP North while at Camp Perry to pick my own......I have accumulated 19 M1
Garands....all SG except for 2 SG Specials and two built up from CMP SG Barreled Receivers w/ bolt. Oh....and ammo......lots....and lots of ammo...since 2008! Have a great time....Good looking rifle.

Two this month
. No I am a late comer to Garands and US milsurp arms. I have many other milsurps. But, by far these are the nicest, beefiest, and most beautiful rifles.
