I would not want to pay $425.00 for that rifle. How is the bore? Must be good for that money. It is a nice enough RC 98k, but you can find them in better shape for about that money. Try the big gunshows and be ready to pay cash.

I live in NE Oregon where it is difficult to find variety and good prices and there are no big shows. So my choices were this or an M48 in better condition and matching for $75 less. I am not a collector so it is perfect for me and I really have no interest in traveling long distance to get a slightly better deal. I remember when these were half this price but at the time I had a very nice pre war commercial Mauser that was more than I needed to satisfy. I also lived in SW Oregon at the time where this kind of rifle is dirt cheap. So I was aware that they can be had cheaper or prettier at times but this one was here now when I wanted it so it is a match made in heaven
. The bore isn't mint but it is pretty good.

I have a duv 41 - 98k with a badly pitted, sewer pipe barrel and strong rifling that shoots about 4" @ 100, which I think is pretty good considering the condition, love that gun.

Yes I will get on shooting it as soon as I can get some brass, dies and bullets. The young man of whom I left my prewar commercial Mauser with also got my dies, brass, and bullets as I was feeling generous and not wanting to leave that family with a bad name after inheriting that rifle from my ex father in law. He tried to give me his entire gun collection one time as I was always fixing things for him but knowing he had another daughter besides my ex wife and several grand children I decided against accepting that in exchange for self respect and peace of mind.

Bearstopper, I like it. It has history! I have a 237 Code that looks similar. What I really like is that the waffenamts and other markings are still present. I have a DOT 43 that has had the waffenamts peened out--ugh! Salt Flat

Enjoy it and shoot it. I have one as a shooter. It has its history. Probably carried by a young infantryman doing his duty for country. Some like em, some dont. To each his own. This is America, own at least one.

I don't think it looks bad or is a terrible deal. Prices of RC's have gone way up and the price you paid is about the lowest I've seen in a year or two when I've even seen one. M48's are even starting to be in short supply and prices of both them and Turk Mausers are creeping up.
I remember when I got mine a couple of years ago and some were saying I paid too much when I paid about $75 less than the local going rate. Value has almost doubled in the relatively short time I've had it and I expect they will continue to rise.

I did a thorough online search and I couldn't find anything resembling a better deal! I have been to an awful lot of gun shows and I see everything but a K98K.

Sarco had one beat to crap RC in their rack when I was up there a few weeks ago. I don't remember the price but I'm thinking it was over $400 and this was NOT a good looking piece, plus the bore was dark.
