Thank God for that Peter. The CO of 2 PARA Andy H ran after an "insurgent" in the back streets of Basrah, only for the little blighter to turn and fire the RPG from 30 feet, which duly hit his body armour square on. Other a few serious bruises he was fine..........glad noone told them it needed 30 metres to arm not 30 feet.
The little bugger should have been listening to the training he received probably from the Russians.........oh well that explains it lol

We had a couple of mortars do that very thing, rounds kind of just spit out. One was a WP that only went about 30 ft downrange. My #2 hit me on the shoulder when he ran, I was laying the mortar at the time. I looked up when reporting "On" and the line was clear...stood up and casually walked back to the others...too late to be running. Everything was fine. We took it away and destroyed it.
    Regards, Jim
