If memory serves me correctly, one old trick (about the turn of the 20th century in the Indian Army) was to leave "clips" of 0.303 ammo around that had been "slightly modified" by use of dynamite rather than cordite by the local IA armourer. Spectacular results when said NW Frontier sniper wannabe took up the second pressure! Dave_n

Same trick was used in Viet Nam. It got so the VC would not use AKs because so many had been injured by "defective ammo."
