Educate me on these two Mausers?

The 98 is a refurbished German K98
with the markings scrubbed. The M48 is a newly built rifle.
The 98's will generally be much more worn than their M48 counterparts because the M48's spent most of their lives in storage.
Not sure that either is collectible TODAY but that can change quickly. If you want one to shoot, the M48 would probably be the better of the two. If you are more history oriented or have a future desire to re-enact, the 98 would be the better of the two.
Prices are obviously based on condition and so long as one isn't a Mitchels Mauser, should be anywhere from $200-$400. The 48 should have sling, ammo pouches, bayonet with it.
Of course if you want to become a serious collector of mausers, you need both.

I have owned both. The 48 is a better shooter.You can reload your own ammo to get better performance from both. They can both be a little brisk in the recoil dept.
