Colt 1917 or New Service Grips
Gentlemen,
I recently attempted to purchase a pair of grips for my Smith and Wesson 1917 and believe I’ve ended up with Colt 1917 or New Service grips.
They’re quite nice. Real bone jigged to look like stag.
If I can identify the gun they fit, I’m going to pop them on eBay for a tidy little profit. If I can not identify them, I’m going to cut them to fit my Smith.
So, I was hoping I could get a few dimensions of known Colt grips to help me make the determination.
Anything you can give would be very much appreciated! I’ll try to get pictures from my phone posted on here in a bit.
Thanks!!

Thanks for the offer! I’ve sent you some pics.
The white paper I have overlaid on the grip is a tracing of what the Smith and Wesson grip would be. I hope this helps with the ID. I’m away from any sort of measuring tools at the moment.

It made the most sense to me as well.
I only paid $20 for them at the gun show yesterday. I think maybe I can get that and enough extra for the appropriate Smith and Wesson grips. We shall see.
Thanks for the help, guys!

Just a quick update.
I did post these on eBay and someone made an offer. After my initial $20 investment, shipping, and all eBay/PayPal fees, I came home with a profit of about $104.
Needless to say, I'm quite happy and will be purchasing a pair of original walnut S&W grips for free, basically.
Thanks for the help!
