Thanks for the link Simon! There was a wealth of Boys info at that site.
Am interested in the sub-cal option. Anyone ever have the Parker Hale Brit 303 sub cal insert? A co-axis No2mk4 .22 would be a nice display and practice piece too!
It is a B serial prefix with an SA in square mark. Observing the stamps it may have had Indian ownership and been re-barrelled there in 1949 to .50BMG. That's what the rifle "says" anyway - the previous owners "story" was it may have been Finnish
from the extension war with an unknown conversion to 0.5 BMG - he did fire live and blanks through it. No additional proof marks, no import marks so it seems to have got to the US a while ago.
Poor No32 BAR! I hope it was made better shortly after.

Back then the men couldn't wait to separated from the Boy's, forever.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.

Did that come out of Seneca arms in Green lane?

Yes it was "not for sale" at Seneca for a long time.

The SA marking is a property stamp of Finland
(Suomi Army) so the original owners suggestion is probably correct.

Be careful if you get a .22 sub cal unit for the Boys.
They have a tendency to cut a ring in the barrel if used too much.
I also have seen a note to that effect in the instructions for the Boys.
The units were made in Canada
by H.W. Cooey.
I'll post you a picture of one to the home email addie.
cheers,
Warren

I'd make it full length from barrel stock and just a close chamber fitting. As long as it doesn't go forward and the breech is solid in the very back it would do fine. Then slide it in from the back. It wouldn't look like a cartridge but like a barrel insert. And you could use almost any smaller caliber pistol cartridge, centerfire too.
