Large Hole Over Small Hole M1 Stock

Found above described stock recently in my stash. Only modification is that it has been routed for trap door buttplate hinge and faced off to fit solid buttplate. No other modifications to holes. There is no visible cartouche or P or draw numbering on butt, but small 2 digit number in channel. Do not have photos available but nice stock not heavily sanded. Would like to know conservative value as I would like to sell it to raise some cash. Thank you for opinions in advance.

You have a SA SPG stock from the early gas trap rifle period, most of the large over small hole butt stocks also have a drawing number D28293 behind the pistol grip. this number was discontinued early in 1940 but the large over small hole configuration continued for a sort period afterward. During rebuild these stocks were modified for the trap door butt plate, some modifications were not as well done as others.

Robert.....thanks for photos. My stock has crude hand tool door hinge modification and lower butt screw hole remains small diameter. Probably done low eschelon or field.

I am certain the modifications were performed in a number of places, the Rock Island Shop Manual shows a hand tool with a large diameter cutter for enlarging the area under the butt plate. My photos show some Winchester examples and another SA stock that had the small hole bored-out and a sleeve in the large hole in order to provide two equal sized holes.Attachment 101228Attachment 101227

As a very rough guess, I'm thinking $2,000. Unrouted and cartouched examples have brought nearly twice that. Robert?

I am told by some experts like Rick borecky that that unrouted, drawing number even faint cartouche and not dented-up around $4000 to $4200,
about the same as WRA RS or WRA double box WB in same condition
