1903 Mark 1 Possible Restoration

Picked it up the other day for a good price and want to get it back to the way its supposed to be. Barrel looks like its been sanded or stuck in a lathe. The markings that should be towards the end are mostly gone. Remnants of what appear to be 12 - 18 are at the end which I think should line up with the serial which is 10507XX. Tried getting pictures of all the markings on it I could. Someone said I wouldn't be able to get a rear sight on it but the indexing spots appear to still be there on the bottom and at the 1 oclock position on the outside of the barrel where it mates to the receiver.

Would appreciate any guidance on whats possible and good sources for parts.

Front sight keyway seems to have been draw filed down to gone. Then yes, perhaps sandpaper. This one was sporterized for sure. The rear sight could slide on again but the front is toast. The cost of parts is far greater than buying one. That keyway is gone. Here's a pic showing the key and the raised ridge at muzzle, all of that is gone.

There's a number of others, these are just what immediately come to mind. If you're trying to do a period correct restoration, beware that some of the items sold on these sites may be the "correct part", just not correct for the year of your rifle.

Looks like you have the correct cut off and spindle, but your trigger is not a MK1. I think I have an original MK1 stock somewhere but it is a little rough having come off a drill rifle. Let me know if you would like to see some pictures.
