That's what I thought too. Hard to believe that a huge collector of premium Garands would have had this done. Now I start looking for a stock. Pretty sad day for me.....the rest of the rifle is outstanding.

O-66 were USMC rebuilds from Odgen arsenal. A lot of those rifles were issued as SecNav trophy rifles.

What if he bought the stock this way and put it on the rifle? Did CMP
tell you whether they sold it as a complete rifle, or maybe as barreled action only?

The COA I got from Sandy today says the rifle was sold as a rack grade, so it was a complete rifle.

When I talked to Sandy on the phone and she said it was sold as a Rack Grade, I said hard to believe.....she laughed. I think the grading criteria has change a bit in the last 20 years.
