Jim, my Soviet 12.7x108 is Chinese factory 41 date 64 (1964) came from Viet Nam where GI's often referred to as 51 Russian
. Big rumor
during war was that you could shoot our 50 BMG in the Soviet m/g but not the reverse -

OK, I read it wrong as WW2. Mine is 188/79. I think mine came from Afghanistan during the Russian
invasion.
Yes, we heard those rumors too from our unknowing experts. I had to show the recruits later when it was my turn by bringing in training aids for illustration.
