Inland Spring Tube, Revisited
Got this from an LGS without taking it out of the stock. To my surprise when I got it back home and did the tear down, I found it was an early Inland Spring Tube. During its life it had been reworked at Standard Products (faint ROD over RWH, which is different that the RMH), with the added bayonet front band (J.Q.M.), an M2 sear, •U• flat bolt, •U• stamped/brazed trigger housing, PI slide, OI four rivet hand guard and RSG stock (with ROCK-OLA recoil plate and S-S3 butt plate). Serial is 242054 and barrel is Inland 5-43.
It went out on MAP at one point and was returned by import. It has a very faint stamp on the barrels r/h side and the only thing that can be made out is SO. EL MON__ CA., which I presume is Fed. Ord., though it doesn't follow their standard stamping method.
The reason that I am showing is because there was a question in 2012 here wondering if there were any 5 digit serial Inlands with spring tubes (https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=36076). This doesn't meet that threshold, but is the lowest one that I've come across in internet searches. Thanks, Bruce.
